Morgue Attendant

morgue attendant prepares bodies and the morgue room to assist the pathologist in post-mortem studies. This job includes hoisting dead bodies onto autopsy tables or into a human refrigerator that has convenient compartments to make storing as easy as possible. A morgue attendant washes treys and instruments used during the autopsy and records identifying information into the morgue file. It is also the morgue attendant's responsibility to release the body to authorized personnel and photograph specimens. If the pathologist allows, a morgue attendant may assist in an autopsy.

Requirements
To obtain this career an individual needs a high school diploma or it's equivalent alongside 2-4 years of related experience. Employers usually require an associates degree in Mortuary science. Salary The average entry level salary for a morgue attendant is $30,000 per year. Nationwide, however, the salary ranges from $30,000-$50,000. Anna's Case Anna died, leaving her body behind for us to ponder over and prod at until we determine the manner of death. In a real life instance, however, a pathologist would do the prodding and pondering. A morgue attendant basically is the janitor of the morgue room; the job basically consists of cleaning and doing tasks that the pathologist wouldn't want to do. However, someone has to do it. |
Self-Reflection
This job doesn't appeal to me. I understand that the job is necessary in the law-enforcement field of study, however I would not like to be the individual to fulfill it. I can barely bring myself to wash the dishes in my sink so I highly doubt that I would be able to wash a table where a dead body had been laying minutes before. FindHow Page. (n.d.).
